The original 1977 HVAC system in the 4-storey Hastings District Council building in Lyndon Road is overdue for replacement. To minimise disruption, other significant upgrades will happen at the same time to the electrical system, BMS, suspended ceilings, lighting, fire protection, building insulation and painting.
Through a two-envelope tender process, Jacksons was chosen to be the lead consultant, managing the contract and all sub-consultants. The tender was awarded based on our skill set and experience with working in existing buildings and live environments, as well as our proven track record with the Council. In the past two years we’ve worked on a variety of Council work, including Hastings Central Library, Heretaunga House and the disaster recovery server room adjacent to the Civil Defence.
Overcoming the many challenges of one of the most comprehensive projects we’ve handled to date, Jacksons delivered the detailed design on time. The contract has been awarded and construction commenced in March 2016. Jacksons continues to provide contract management, construction, commissioning, and post-occupancy monitoring, with Scott Roberts acting as Engineer to the Contract under NZS3910.
A complex project, the upgrade has been designed to be constructed within the constraints of a live environment, floor by floor. Scheduled completion is January 2017.
